The WTR Watch App includes many features that makes officiating Rugby matches much easier than the pencil and paper we are used to! We have put a lot of time and effort into making this app a ‘one-stop-shop’ for everything that you may need to use on and off the pitch.
This guide is for the button-only version of the app.
When you arrive at the grounds there are a few things that you may want to change on the watch app to customise it to the match type or teams playing. Opening the app will bring you to the main page, using the Up and Down buttons on the left side of the watch will allow you to navigate to the home and away menus - using the same buttons, you can scroll to the bottom of one of these menus where you will find settings. There is a list of settings on this page that require you to scroll to view them. On the settings page you are able to select what type of game you are officiating between regular games or 7s by tapping the ‘7s Mode’ toggle - when activated, the toggle will turn green. Further down, you can select how many periods are going to be played as well as the length of each period by scrolling down and pressing ‘Periods/Length’. You can then use the Up ('+') and Down ('-') buttons to edit the numbers and use the 'Start' button to confirm. Yellow card times are similarly customisable.
As a regular reminder, you are can enable a ‘60s Pause Vibrate’ reminder that will vibrate if you have paused the timer for more than 60 seconds and then 30 seconds after that and then again in 15 seconds if you have not unpaused the timer in that time.
Pressing the ‘Back’ button will bring you back to the Home/Away menu.
In the Home/Away menus, you will be able to adjust more aspects of the Watch App. Scrolling down, you will find 'Adjust Scores’, which provides a history of scores, cards and injuries that took place during the game for both the Home and Away teams. You can delete an event by selecting it with the Start button. Beneath this, you will find ‘Injuries’, which allows you to record an injury that has resulted in a player being taken off the pitch. The team of the player selected is determined by whether you are in the Home or the Away team menu. Use the Up and Down buttons to select a player number and use the Start button to confirm.
Pressing the Back button on the menu takes you to the main page. To start a game, press the Start button. To pause the timer, press the Start button, and then press it again to unpause. There is a smaller continuous timer above the game timer that will continue to run when the game timer is paused. To award a Penalty, Try, PG, or DG, navigate to the Home or Away Team Menu, scroll to the relevant one and use the Start button to select it. If you are awarding a Try, the option to record it as a Conversion will be given. When you are ready to end the half, or game, scroll down to ‘End Period’.
To add yellow or red cards to players, navigate to the Home or Away Team Menu and scroll to YC or RC. Selecting the card will display a screen with the option to Add a card, as well as displaying the active previously awarded cards. To award a card, select Add Card with the Start button and use the Up and Down buttons to choose the player number. Once you have chosen, confirm with the Start button. To cancel, use the Back button. Use the Up and Down buttons to scroll the page to view more cards. If a player receives two yellow cards, it is automatically converted into a red card and added to their teams red card list. To return to the menu, use the Back button.
To view past games, navigate to the Settings and scroll until you find ‘View Past Games’. This will show a log of the games you have recorded, select a game to view the events of the game.
